  • The New Jersey Antique Radio Club The NJARC is a 501C3 non-profit organization and social club founded in 1992. We are dedicated to the preservation, restoration, education, history, and enjoyment of not only antique radios but vintage electronics and related technology and media of the Information Age.

  • Though we do not consider ourselves an Amateur Radio club, a large portion of our members are registered HAMs. We have a good working relationship with the ARRL, and our swap meets are listed as hamfests in their directory. Due to the historic location of our museum, we are proud to be heavily associated with Marconi, and participate in International Marconi Day and field day every year. Our museum has a registered station as well, W2RTM.

  • The NJARC hosts monthly meetings featuring presentations of something related to the electronics field, whether it be a technical deep dive, a history lesson, or our popular Show & Tell or Tips and Tricks sessions.

  • Absolutely not. Don't let the name fool you. Though the club was originally founded with Radio as the primary focus the club and its members' interest is vast and covers multiple facets of Information Age technology, from wind-up phonographs, to record changers, to HI-FI equipment, test equipment, televisions, and everything in between.

  • Membership is open to anyone with an interest in vintage electronics, from casual enthusiasts to experienced collectors.

  • That's ok! We have several members scattered all across the USA. We have some in Canada as well. We welcome remote members, and since we stream most of our meetings live, you can still enjoy being part of our group.

  • $25.00 for an Individual or $30.00 for a Family. Lifetime Membership is also available for $250 for an Individual or $300 for a Family. Membership is effective January 1 through December 31. If you join between November 1 and December 31, you will continue membership through the next calendar year.

  • The Museum is open to the public the same hours as InfoAge, 12:00 PM (Noon) – 5:00 PM on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

  • Admission to the RTM and ancillary exhibits are covered by your InfoAge admission! For the most up to date fee structure, see InfoAge.org

  • That's up to you! Our docents are trained to give an informative walk-through, or you can roam through it at your own pace. The docents are happy to answer questions on the exhibits either way!

  • Yes, with notice. Please contact our Museum Administrator to coordinate details at xyz@xyz.com

  • Yes there is. We have an entire hands-on room where basic fundamentals of electricity are demonstrated in interactive and fun ways that appeal to children of all ages, along with a few in the main exhibit hall.

  • We have a mix of static and operational exhibits. That said, a lot of our exhibits are very old and fragile. Please be gentle and patient. Our support staff is all volunteer, and it can be a challenge keeping exhibits running while still keeping them open to the public.

  • Absolutely! We are always in need of volunteers to help staff the museum, as well as people willing to help fix/restore exhibits, or do the general day to day maintenance/projects associated with running a public museum. Prior knowledge on Radio Technology is nice, but NOT required, docents have a training manual that they can refer to for getting up to speed.

  • We happily take financial donations! You can also join the NJARC, as part of the membership fee goes towards operating costs. Donate to a docent in-person or online at njarc.org

  • You can help us financially by joining and becoming a member, or if you just want to make a financial donation, you can do so via paypal.com/donationlinkfornjarc

  • The club does not formally offer appraisals of items to the public.

  • Under some circumstances, the NJARC will accept DONATIONS of radio/related equipment, literature. We cannot guarantee it will be on exhibit, but in one way or another if we accept it, it will benefit the club or its membership. Contact the president at president@njarc.org for more information.

  • The NJARC does not purchase items solicited to them from the general public as a general rule. We can pass your contact information along to our membership email list to see if a member is interested in purchasing it.

  • Some members do work on devices for the public, but it depends on what it is, their workload, and how much the customer is willing to spend. Reach out to club president president@njarc.org and they will provide further details.

  • Believe it or not, tubes are easier to find than you might think. The fact that they have a near-indefinite shelf life means a lot still survive today. Some are more scarce than others. Membership comes with the added benefit of getting certain tubes through the Club's Tube Program for a nominal fee, stock permitting.
